Yes. Soft washing is the recommended way to clean asphalt shingle and metal roofs. It treats the algae and lichen that cause black streaks with a cleaning solution at low pressure, instead of high pressure that can strip the protective granules from shingles.

Why roofs should never be pressure washed
The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association recommends against pressure washing shingles because it can remove the granules that protect them from UV. A soft wash solution kills the algae at the root, and the remaining stains continue to fade with the next few rains.

We look at roof type, pitch, and visible damage before any cleaning starts. We are not roofers and will flag anything that looks like a repair issue.

Landscaping below the roofline is pre-wet, and downspouts are managed so runoff is controlled.

Soft wash application
A cleaning solution is applied at low pressure to the affected areas of the roof.
